5th March 2010 - Goodbye Penang, Goodbye Malaysia

Ok, things have all been planned and discussed.. Decisions have all been made. So now it's time to leave my home country, Malaysia... I was pretty excited but I was very sad as well leaving behind people whom I love to bits (parents, brother, friends and my 2 precious dogs).

Departed Penang International Airport via MAS and arrived at KLIA at about 11am.

Malaysia Airlines' aircraft (MAS)

KLIA - Kuala Lumpur International Airport

Walked around doing nothing apart from utilizing the toilets in KLIA before I get to the small and ever busy LCCT airport!

LCCT - Low Cost Carrier Terminal (part of KLIA if not mistaken)

I was only allowed, ok I only purchased, 20kg of luggage as I tooked Air Asia (also known as the world's best low cost carrier). Hmmm... I would say best food served in the air.

My favourite food served in the air - NASI LEMAK by Air Asia!

This was the part which I hated most and was swearing and complaining a whole lot to every single living creature on earth. I took the bus to LCCT from KLIA expecting it to be the coolest bus on earth, where you know.... those where they can actually lower the bus for you to manage your luggage or baby prams in a much easier way but TA-DA! It was like those buses even before RAPID (Malaysia's new bus company) was produced! It has a narrow staircase, 3 or 4 steps... Everyone was with small bags and me on the other hand, with a 20kg giant luggage and a 10kg small luggage!

I was panting like hell when I got up the bus and all the guys just turned and looked at me
instead of even offering a hand! Ok fine, I didn't open my mouth to ask for help but hello... couldn't any of them just helped me? I AM A WOMAN!!!! so i decided to take my own sweet time trying my super duper best to pushed it up with my knee together with all my almighty strength. Then, when I got up the bus, when i was taking out my wallet to pay, the bloody driver had the brain of a small cow... yes a small cow, a calf... WHY??? Because his brain was not so developed yet. He said to me "angkat bag masuk sikit, sini orang mau jalan"

Translation
bus driver: "move your back inside as people can't move"

This super duper pissed me off! I so wanted to say "hello, buta ah?" aka "r u blind?" Anyways, that was in the bus... Oh yah, how i got my bags down? without help again but instead, people trying to push their way pass me... IDIOTS! I was planning to just kick them down but I managed in the end... :P

The crappy Airport Liner - that's why it was cheap

I learned my lesson... Take the cab in future when you have big bags unless otherwise.

So when I got to the airport, I sat for a bit in the airport then off to Coffee Bean for a drink to refresh myself, while texting everyone trying to finish the credits I have got left in my mobile. Time to check in... checked in without any problems... when asked "buat apa kat England?".. "KAHWIN kat Spain, transit aja kat London!"...

Translation
officer: "what will you be doing in England"...

me: "Getting married in Spain, transit in London"

So time to go in and these stupid bloke kept telling me my bag was too big for hand luggage... my bad was too heavy for land luggage! fine! bloody 7kg for hand luggage all the way to London? How cheap can they be I was thinking and finally, when my bag was 7kg... Ok how i did that? chucked everything into my handbag and NO, i don't hold big LVs! When he checked my boarding pass, he said "Ahhh... London ka? London 10kg boleh"

Translation
Guy at the door: "ahhh London, as for London 10kg is allowed"

I was like "isn't that where i told you i was going?" - *still smiling but inside me burning hot*

Anyways, flight was good... As usual, got lucky, had 3 seats to myself... When i arrived in London Stansted, all the good seats were taken and I had to find a spot on the floor to sleep but in the end I found a chair to sleep. One single chair which was a torture to my back!

This is Air Asia X to London - looks like SIA no?

What's missing in Air Asia X? A screen for yourself

Outside view of London Stansted

All the best, xoxo

P.S: I hope you enjoyed LCCT! Although I know you surely did enjoy Malaysia!

Shayan in Penang, Feb 2010

This trip, Shayan didn't get to do much things as we had to plan for our wedding. well, a wedding is something both partners plan together. We didn't go anywhere apart from staying in Penang, running here and there.. from one shop to another, from one photographer to another FOR OUR WEDDING... *PHEW*

One day before the photo shoot, we had our food tasting and i just didn't care how i was gonna look the next day anymore cos the food was delicious! and some said the bride and groom are gonna miss most of the food on the wedding day, so I better eat whatever i can first... HEHEHHE! i am not a real woman i guess... a real woman would be keeping her strict diet till the last day and would just fore-go the good food.

We had our wedding pictures taken on the 6th day of chinese new year (which was a saturday, 20th of February). I have always thought it'd be fun but it was so damn tiring. Not forgetting this precious point, I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS LONG TO TAKE PICTURES IN A STUDIO! I have always told all my friends that I will never go for studio shootings until my wedding day! and I managed to wait that long, knowing i am someone who loves to take and to be in pictures! Anyways, it was a once in a lifetime experience... Parents and brother came to the studio to shoot a few family pictures with us.

The picture below was taken by a friend... u know like those in the makin... lol

As for the next day (21st February, a Sunday), we had another photo shooting session with one of my close friends, Weng Khit. He is a freelance photographer, and YES he takes very good pictures! he has proven himself! It was another tiring day for us and the crews (Lenny, Cheryl & Mei Chen). We got so burnt under the hot sun (well it has been well known that the sun during Chinese New Year is always hotter compared to any other days)... we took our pictures in different unique locations... LOVED IT!

well well well...

photographer for actual day: checked
decorator: checked
food tasting: checked
all deposits: checked

we went to choose the photos before shayan left and they are absolutely gorgeous! i'm loving them totally... x

Chinese New Year 2010

OMG, My blogs are like so back dated... let me update you on what happened this chinese new year!

I wasn't in the mood at all this Chinese New Year.. I didn't buy any new clothes till the day before... Bought 2 red tops from British India and that was it! LOL! When it comes to new clothes, everyday is a new year for me, as per my mum.

We do not practice reunion dinners on the eve anymore cos my mum's parents are no longer here. As for my dad's side, both grandparents are in heaven as well but we have been having our reunions on the 2nd day of Chinese new year, and it's still ongoing. Now that the old ones are gone, Chinese new year is no longer that fun. When my grandparents were still alive, at least we make the effort to go over to theirs' to collect ang pows and to meet up with the other cousins. I meet my cousins every year, but this group of cousins (dad's side), I am not so familiar with them.

This year, the 2nd day of chinese new year was the day I have waited for eagerly cos my fiance arrived in Penang (after 10 months of being apart). After the reunion dinner at my aunt's place in mainland, we drove home, me looking forward to go to the airport. My brother and I went to the airport to get him and his hair was awesome. HAHAHAHAA... I told him to not cut his hair cos it is much cheaper to get it done here in Malaysia. When we arrived at the airport, my brother said "that's the Bob Marley" and I didn't see him... As soon as we met, he gave me a hug and a kiss, and a chocolate wrapped up in the shape of a flower. How sweet of him... :x

Gave him his new shirt which I bought for him, and guess what? He changed and he wore the same shirt as my brother... LOL! Both of them looked so cute! Headed to the pub, had a few drinks, and he enjoyed his "yong tau fu"... RM5 for a few meat balls and he had like a couple of them. *GOSH* I could have gotten those few meat balls for less than RM1. Anyways, anything for my love.

and not forgetting, it was one of my best friend's birthday as well (Cheryl Wong)... so we celebrated her birthday together with his arrival! it was LUSH!!! <3

January 2010

Let me summarize everything up... I know it's been a month since i last updated my blog.

Last 2 weeks, on the 29th of January was my submission... Stayed awake one night before submission till submission due time! so, that's basically more than 24 hours.. I looked horrible, tired but yet this young heart of mine wants to go out and celebrate!

Went to the hospital to visit my friend who got admitted in the morning because he had diarrhea for 4 days! so guys, don't torture yourself but instead admit yourself once you suffer from diarrhea (2nd day itself) cos I don't think anyone would want to be on drips for 3 days with a needle being stuck in your hand.

Certified addicted to Farmville

I have been playing farmville for a few months now.. and today I discovered some new tactics in building my villa on a high surface...

When i first played (christmas season)... hence, the field filled with snow:

Here's my carnival ground:

My lil cottage (very festive mood huh):

Discovered how to build a road, but it only lasted for a day BECAUSE my friend said it's ugly. wasted all my coins on the black hays:

and here goes.... TADAAAA! My villa on a high surface!

there's my library, post office, carnival ground, general store & the small lil red school:

And now I've got a waterfall, connecting from the villa's swimming pool to the pond:

This is my friend's farm.. It has turned into lego world @ Mario's World! LOL!

Designer Decorator for Weddings

I have been really stressed out with my assignment (last paper before my dissertation) as submission is nearing and I am stucked at 1500 words (4000 needed) but guess what, my savior always comes to my rescue when I am almost losing sight of the light. It's not easy being an employee and Employment Law is crap! And Zynga Poker on facebook is not helping at all cos I lost 17million in one freaking day. Anyways, I am back on track for my assignment (i see light again)! *wink*

And to get myself a lil excited, I decided to plan on my wedding...
*wee jumping around*

- Registration of Marriage date: checked
- Reception venue & date: checked
- Bridal Shop: checked
- Bridesmaids: checked
- Grooms men: half checked (cos a couple of them are from overseas)
- Flower girl & page boy: checked
- Bridesmaids' dresses: pending
- Photographer: pending
- Videographer: pending
- Entertainment: pending
- Invitation cards: pending
- Wedding favors: pending
- Wedding decorator: CHECKED

WHAA STILL SO MANY ON PENDING STATUS! *SIGH*

Well well, as you can see, my wedding decorator's status is now CHECKED. I was at the shop earlier to discuss on the decorations, and my quotation will be ready next week! Hopefully it doesn't go over our budget. Yes, we are both on a tight budget wedding cos we're paying from our own pocket (but it is definitely gonna turn into a dream come true). I am so happy right now but I was not able to make up my mind as to the theme of my wedding when asked earlier. This is because i am a very fickle minded person. For example, I have already booked park royal for my reception and last week, I wanted to change it to Hard Rock although I have paid the deposit.

*WHAT WAS I THINKING???*

Thus, at the shop earlier, I was like, "er i want a beach theme.. no a tropical theme maybe cos my fiance likes it but not me... or maybe a fairytale kind of wedding, or maybe all 3?" He then gave me a rough idea on how it's gonna look like and I am falling inlove with it. You can check out their work HERE

How i came about this website? I was looking thru some websites and that's how I came about this shop and coincidentally, it's my friend's friend's friend's shop! LOL! friend's friend's friend's? YES! hahahahha *crazy me*

So when I came home (knowing that i didn't do my homework before going over to the shop), I googled on wedding themes and I came to a conclusion that what I have always wanted is not magical or fairytale but FANTASY it is! Look at how amazing a fantasy wedding is gonna look like (am I dreaming or is it gonna be something I am going to get?):

Yes yes, the color is gonna be Tiffany blue (cannot get a Tiffany ring and thus, flowers will do LOL), purple, light pink (at first, I was like, please NO PINK but now i think they're pretty) & cream. Am dreaming now,.. candles everywhere, glasses/ bowls filled with water... WHAAAA!

Then I went on looking at what kind of flowers I want for the bridal bouquet as well as the bridesmaids bouquets, and found these pictures:

WHAA!!! SO PRETTY LA!!!

Now I need to think again on the color for my bridesmaids dresses! *faint/ headache*

Is teal color gonna blend in with my FANTASY THEME? where can I get the material from?

Choosing your wedding date

I am Chinese and thus, Chinese has got a lot of traditions to follow. When it comes to marriage, we need to choose the right date, right people to attend your wedding, right place, right time, right Chinese horoscope partner, etc.. WOW! That's heck of a lot of things to consider before you can settle down with your partner.

I have chosen 19th of Dec 2010 for my wedding in Penang, as the 18th of Dec has been taken and coincidentally, the person who is getting married on the 18th is the sister of my brother's ex-gf! what a small world!!! Thus I need to stick to the 19th which is a sunday! But, am still loving the venue compared to the other hotels... Firstly, I love to have a garden/ beach wedding and we'll be having a garden ceremony,

which will be followed by the reception in the ballroom (as per dad's request). My fiance has always wanted to have his wedding by the beach since we're in Malaysia. So both parties' wishes are fulfilled.

We are now choosing the right date for our registration of marriage in Spain. I need to confirm the date as soon as possible as my dad's friends are actually planning to attend it in Spain! Oh MY GOSH! That would mean, am not gonna have a lonely spanish registration of marriage but instead we'll be having with us Malaysians, Australians and Singaporeans. How lucky!

I asked daddy to go to the temple to enquire which is the best date... One of the best way for me to not worry bout the dates (cos now we're thinking of the 8th or 12th of Feb). My brother introduced me to this famous feng shui master, Lilian Too.

It was stated at her website that 8th of Feb 2010 is an auspicious day but 12th is an inauspicious day. But 12th is our anniversary date as well as my fiance's birthday. My darling wants to remember dates easily... So he wants it all to be on the 12th .. LOL! *My silly boy*

LILLIAN TOO highlights the power of mirrors, explaining in detail how they can be used as powerful enhancing tools for doubling good energy, etc ...

Anything which deals with Wedding, i.e. dates, horoscope compatibility, etc. please proceed here

Dad called me when i was at work and told me that the date for the registration of marriage is not important as it's not withing our control to choose the date. But let me tell you this, in Spain (in Saldes @ mountain I mean) we get to choose our date because not many people lives there!

Let me show you saldes.. It is a very pretty place indeed but I swear to God, I cannot live there for more than 2 weeks.. I can go crazy! LOL but am more than glad to have my ROM and after party there:

The day of marriage @ the day your husband's brings you out of your house (Chinese tradition) is the important day. And guess what? The guy from the temple told my dad that 19th Dec is a BAD day! That's my wedding date! Everything has been planned! OMG!!! 18th, 20th & 30th are good dates but God's sake, 18th has been taken, 20th is a monday and 30th is a Thursday... Who on earth is gonna come to my reception??? *faint*

Then I got a text message from my dad saying:
"Don't be superstitious. Go ahead with your plan & don't think or believe as this apply to those who incline to believe"... Awww, dad really knows how to make me feel better eh? Love for his daughter is that strong!

Then I told my bridesmaids:
"HOW LA? Can I pretend to be not chinese for one day?"

Yvonne replied:
"You're doing the 'YES I DO' ceremony and yet you asked your dad to go to the temple to ask on dates"... LOL, contradicting me!

MY FIANCE IS THE BEST! HE SAID "I AM NOT CHINESE"

CONCLUSION: WE'RE STICKING TO THE 19TH OF DEC 2010!

When I have dark days

Now that life is a lil hectic for me:

1) wedding's coming up (19th Dec) and I am stuck with my plannings;

2) submission for my last paper for my Masters is on the 29th Jan (before the nightmare of the dissertation begins);

3) dress fitting for my wedding is on the 30th Jan;

4) future husband's coming for a visit in Feb (really excited about it but at the same time i need to keep myself in my best look and behavious cos it has been 10 months since he last saw me, and I wouldn't want to scare him with this woman who is turning 30 in 4 yrs time)...

5) money is always an issue isn't it?

6) to slim down is the biggest issue for me as I crave for many kinds of food and I live to eat!

7) tough time at work (u know it's almost there but yet it's not but everyone's treating you like you no longer exist just because you're leaving).

8) Got to be saying Goodbye soon to certain things i love & adore now; and

9) I need to fight the love i've got for 'Facebook'! it's the most evil partner someone can get in their life!

*Hmm it's good that I haven't reach 10 things*

Everything's hitting me at the same time! I feel like breaking down and cry but I need to stay strong and focused! otherwise, I will be failing on all of the above (points 1-4)! Sometimes, I pray, sometimes, I feel like giving up, sometimes I tell myself, life isn't always beautiful... (don't you know even roses have got thorns). God is fair, when you're lucky in a way, you're unlucky in another way. If you're rich, you might be ugly, if you're smart, you might be poor, if you're pretty, you might be short/ fat, etc... get what i mean?

Thus, i found this poem below shared by my friend's dad on her fb when she was down...

"Invictus" is a short poem by the English poet William Ernest Henley
(1849–1903). It was written in 1875 and first published in 1888....

At the age of 12, Henley became a victim of tuberculosis of the bone.
When you have dark days, be reminded of this poem by William Henley, whose leg was amputated for tuberculosis at a young age...he composed this from his hospital bed.

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of fate
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years finds
And shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul
